Dev Blog #1 - Stellar Craftsmanship!
Hey there!
Whew! Big news to share!
With the initial run of our Kickstarter campaign coming to a close, we want to thank each and every single individual who expressed interest in our humble little project.
To those who donated to the campaign - from the bottom of our hearts - thank you.
As many of you may know, funding is all or nothing on Kickstarter, and no matter how thrilling a project is, without the proper exposure, it quickly gets lost in the riffraff.
We are currently working to build our backers list, and will run a new campaign sometime in the future when enough people are interested in the project.
For those few individuals who have already made it, we wanted to take a moment to highlight some of the recent work we've been up to, and share a couple exciting announcements!
Our lifelong friend, and exceptional programmer, Avraham, has returned to the Shipwreck Games Team!
With Avraham's return to the fold, what was once not technically possible has become reality.
Weapons, combat, trading, and pretty much every facet of Claymore Chronicles: Knightmares will be overhauled to be nothing short of spectacular, and many features that were unlikely to make it into the game are now not only possible, but a priority.
We don't wanna give away too much just yet, so stay tuned for more exciting revelations on the topic!
We've ported the project and vision over to Unreal Engine 5.
This might seem a little jarring...
Originally developed in the Unity Engine, Claymore Chronicles: Knightmares achieved a wonderful visual art style, and sense of scale.
We have not made this switch lightheartedly, and are fully aware of the drawbacks and advantages that come with this migration.
We didn't switch to Unreal for any graphical advantages, or the like, but did so out of necessity.
With this migration comes all the gameplay depth and mechanics that we couldn't have hoped to achieve in due time using the Unity Engine.
We know some individuals may see a change like this as negative, and want to assure them that the Unity build is still very much intact, and that this migration is to allow us to work together as a team again, utilizing many now industry-standard technologies that allow us to work with greater speed and efficiency.
The original vision for Claymore Chronicles: Knightmares was always ambitious, but relatively simple in terms of gameplay.
This change also allows us to not just entertain, but plan for additional features such as co-op, and platform releases that wouldn't otherwise have been possible.
We are now working to build a super in-depth combat system, and are excited to share that Vehicles are now greenlit, and will be making not just an appearance, but will become an integral part of getting around, and contribute to gameplay significantly.
Here's a first look at the Legendary vehicles that will play a significant role in traversal across the world of Claymore Chronicles: Knightmares!
Each stance/form will have a legendary vehicle that shares its theme.
Mantis
Wielding reversed Katanas, sever all that stands in your way with the Mantis form.
Manta
From the depths, embody devastating beauty with the Manta form.
Scorpion
Overhead thrusts, defensive skills, and pinpoint accuracy define the Scorpion form.
Wyvern
Conquer the skies and leave nothing but the world behind with the Wyvern form.
That's it for this update!
We're working hard to realize the vision, and look forward to sharing more behind-the-scenes stuff!
